The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program supports the health of families between doctor visits. As a trusted health advisor, your support is crucial in spreading awareness for the WIC program and helping families get the healthy start they deserve.

Many people don’t realize they’re eligible for WIC benefits, which means they’re missing out on:

• Food benefits to purchase nutritious food like fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, grains, protein, and infant formula
• Health education
• Breastfeeding support
• Referral to dentists, childcare, preschools, specialty health professionals and more.

WIC participants see benefits such as:

• Longer, safer pregnancies with fewer premature births and infant deaths
• Improved maternal health
• Improved dietary outcomes for infants and children
• Improved performance at school

A survey of Georgia residents completed in 2023 showed that potential participants would prefer to learn about WIC from a healthcare provider over any other information source. At the Coastal Health District, we are grateful for the role you play in keeping our community healthy.
