Schedule Now for Free Mammograms at Chatham County Health Department August 24

Eligible women can receive no-cost mammograms next month when the St. Joseph’s/Candler mobile mammography unit visits the Chatham County Health Department. The mobile screening event will happen Monday, August 24 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. by appointment in the parking lot of the health department clinic at 1395 Eisenhower Drive in Savannah.

All screenings are by appointment only and are open to women aged 40 and older without health insurance coverage, and for women under 40 when there are identified problems, suspicion, or symptoms of breast cancer. Space is limited – appointments can be scheduled by calling the Chatham County Health Department’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program at 912-356-2946.

Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second-leading cause of cancer death in women. However, breast cancer has high survival rates when caught and treated early, which is why regular screening is so important.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP) helps increase access to life-saving screenings for women who do not have health insurance coverage for mammograms and cervical cancer screenings. For more information about available services, please visit coastalhealthdistirct.org/bccp.
