Understanding Vaccines

This presentation covers the history of vaccines, how vaccines aid our immune system, vaccine schedules, and the importance of vaccines. This is an engaging presentation that provides the listeners an opportunity to ask questions, voice their own thoughts on vaccines, and share their personal vaccination stories.

We would like to re-introduce you to YOUR local health department! Learn about the various services and offerings of the public health team, from health equity to chronic disease to nutrition and more! When possible, representatives from these departments will also be on hand to answer questions, talk about upcoming events and ongoing initiatives, and provide valuable resources to participants in need.

Join the Health Equity Team of the Coastal Health District to learn the ins and outs of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the illness it causes: COVID-19. The team talks about biology, infection prevention, and vaccines. This presentation is an opportunity to ask your COVID-19 questions and receive the most up-to-date pandemic information and guidance.

Advocating for YOUR Health

Join the Health Equity team as we discuss how to advocate for your health care. We provide tips for communicating with your provider, advice about seeking a second opinion, and guidelines for following up with your referrals. Most importantly, we teach you how to take charge of your health care and provide strategies to achieve optimal health and wellness.

The goals of this presentation are to promote health self-advocacy and provide tools for better health literacy and patient/provider communication.

Health Equity Awareness for Healthcare Workers and Providers

This one-hour presentation is intended for public health employees, both in clinical settings and health promotion positions. Participants will develop a greater understanding of equity, bias, and cultural competency, and learn to apply these strategies to their roles.

This presentation examines the health disparities having the greatest impact on Coastal Health District communities. Presenters provide constructive strategies for effective delivery of care for the most vulnerable members of our community. These strategies are then compiled into a checklist providers can review while engaging in patient care.
